Job Purpose

As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a client portfolio, ensuring exceptional service delivery across both compliance and advisory work. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of approximately 280 personal tax clients
  • Leading the preparation and review of personal tax returns (approximately 80% compliance)
  • Providing bespoke advisory services, including capital gains tax planning and ad hoc tax matters (approximately 20% advisory)
  • Ensuring compliance and deadlines are met for all clients
  • Acting as the main client contact, addressing queries, and offering proactive solutions
  • Identifying opportunities for tax planning to add value to clients
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members to nurture their professional growth
  • Keeping up-to-date with tax legislation and advising clients on relevant changes

The Successful Applicant
  • Extensive experience in personal tax management, ideally within a practice environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance and advisory services
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of clients
  • Excellent client relationship skills with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities to support junior staff members
  • A recognised tax qualification (such as ATT or CTA) is advantageous but not essential with relevant experience
