A GLIMPSE INTO THE DAY OF A QUALITY INSPECTOR

  • Inspect incoming materials and parts to ensure electrical and mechanical compliance with specifications.
  • Perform general, spot, and final inspections to verify product conformance, supporting various production areas, and adhering to IPC610 and JSTD001 standards.
  • Collaborate to identify root causes of failures, suggest improvements, and ensure rework/repair complies with specified requirements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and data systems in line with ISO14001 and ISO9001 standards, including inspection and non-conforming material reports.
  • Keep the work area clean, safe, and organised, maintaining equipment such as microscopes, verniers, digital micrometers, thread gauges, and CMM machines.
  • Assist in implementing process controls, improvement actions, and inspection instructions.
  • Adhere to company and customer KPI metrics, focusing on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Promote continuous improvement by working with teams to enhance processes and product manufacturability.
  • Complete required training and apply knowledge to the job role; deputise for colleagues as needed.
  • Positively represent the role of Quality Inspector by completing necessary training to meet business and competency requirements.

IS THIS THE ROLE FOR YOU?

If you have the following essential skills, we'd love to hear from you:

  • GCSE Maths and English grades 4-9
  • Inspection experience in mechanical machining or electronic soldering assembly.
  • Adhering to and understanding quality standards, with the ability to identify and address non-conformities.
  • Proficiency in working with technical drawings and documents.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and data within established systems and processes.
  • Collaborating effectively in a team, communicating clearly, and contributing to team efforts while also working independently.
  • Consistently following procedures and working to established standards.
  • Demonstrating high attention to detail and a commitment to quality, ensuring tasks are done correctly the first time.
  • Expertise in fault finding and problem-solving.
  • Employing a methodical and patient approach to work.
  • Knowledgeable in ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards.

Desirable:

  • NVQ 2 in science, production or, technology qualification
  • Quality qualifications (IPC-610, IPC-600)
