Salary: £42,000 - £50,000 per annum

Required Qualifications & Experience

As a Consultant you must:

  • Ideally have experience within Social Housing and Construction.
  • Ideally hold GradIOSH grade or equivalent, we will consider TechIOSH
  • Ideally hold a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent), we will consider NEBOSH Certificate levels
  • Have a minimum of 2 years practical experience in a health and safety role.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills, with good mastery of the English language.
  • Demonstrate an ability to relate easily with clients and colleagues, to understand and empathise with their circumstances.
  • Be a highly effective consultant who is able to communicate clearly with people of widely differing health and safety backgrounds.
  • Have proven ability with Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365.
  • Be willing to travel throughout with the occasional nights away.
  • Maintain a valid UK driving licence.
Main Duties

A Consultant is required to:

  • Conduct Audits of client premises to establish precise levels of compliance against legal and recognised national standards at locations around the UK.
  • Devise cost-effective plans for addressing clients needs for health and safety improvements.
  • Negotiate with enforcing authorities on behalf of clients.
  • Undertake routine health and safety activities on behalf of clients, in such areas as:
    • Policies, Organisation and Procedures
    • Risk Assessments
    • Surveys and Inspections
    • Mentoring and providing advice
    • Management reporting
    • Accident/Incident reporting and investigation
    • Contractor Management
  • To prepare client specific documentation as appropriate to the needs of the client’s business.
  • Pursue continuous professional development, ensuring your own skills and knowledge are always up to date with the latest changes in legislation and codes of practice.
  • Provide guidance and support to other members of the team and assist in their professional development.
  • To support with client’s ongoing needs and highlighting additional areas of support that may be needed as their projects progress.
  • Carry out such other duties that are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and standing of the post.
  • To maintain a current and valid driving licence.
  • To maintain GradIosh membership status as a minimum.
