We have a fantastic opportunity to join Sovereign Network Group as Commercials Manager – Property Maintenance & Technical Assurance on a fixed term basis for 9 months. You'll be based from our office in either Wembley – London or Hertfordshire. This role will combine office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance.

What you'll be doing

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Commercials Manager to oversee the financial and contractual aspects of our Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) program.

You will manage project budgets, lead procurement and contract negotiations, and provide expert commercial support to ensure the successful delivery of energy efficiency and retrofit projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage project budgets for the SHDF program, ensuring alignment with funding requirements and value for money principles.
  • Lead on the procurement of contractors, consultants, and materials suppliers in accordance with public sector regulations and the SHDF's objectives.
  • Identify and assess commercial risks associated with SHDF projects, including cost escalations, supplier performance, and regulatory changes.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for SHDF retrofit and energy efficiency projects, drawing on knowledge of materials, labour, and current market rates.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, funding bodies, and residents where required, ensuring transparency in financial matters and managing expectations.
  • Analyse project data to assess financial performance and identify trends, areas for improvement, or efficiencies in cost management.

What we need from you

  • Excellent negotiation skills, financial acumen, and ability to work with complex budgets. Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft excel.
  • Ability to assess project budgets, forecasts, and financial risks accurately.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy in cost analysis, budget monitoring, and reporting.
  • Skilled in handling contract negotiations and resolving commercial disputes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with cross-program responsibilities, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality and cost control.
