Morson Talent is proud to partner with a leading client in the Bristol area in their search for a skilled machinist

Job Title: Machinist

Duration: 6 months initially

The shift pattern is now 17 weeks working Sunday Monday Tuesday Nights 7pm to 7am followed by 17 weeks working Weds Thursday and Friday Nights. When you start on the PAYE rates for a Machinist with no stamp is £25.74 rising to £26.80 when you get your stamp. Overtime Sunday to Friday is £29.47 rising to £30.68 when you have your stamp. Saturday Overtime is £32.82 rising to £34.18 when you gain your stamp. The aim is to gain your stamp within a 3 to 6 month period.

Purpose:

The facility manufactures, machines and assembles carbon fibre wing spars for A350 and A400M aircraft. We are seeking people with CNC machine experience on either composite or metallic materials, to operate, set and programme the latest technology router equipment. To manufacture aircraft components from composite materials, using the latest technology CNC machinery which meets aircraft design drawing requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Manufacture, machine, measure, test and assemble aircraft components from composite and metallic materials, up to 15m in length, which are fully traceable, using automated machinery.
• Use of CNC rout machines, 5 Axis Zimmerman drilling and fettling gantry machines and jigged vacuum fixtures.
• Use of Renishaw probing equipment.
• Use of cutter tool setting equipment.
• Experience of loading and setting fixtures and tooling in CNC machines.
• Ideally with Siemens 840D control system experience.
• Ideally have 3 5 years' experience on either CNC Machines.
• Understanding of aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems
• Self motivated and with good communication skills.
• Able to work in small teams led by Process Team Leaders.
• Served a recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in composite or aircraft environment.
• Embrace lean manufacture, waste reduction and improvement initiatives
• Work in accordance with Health & Safety requirements, including relevant risk, COSHH and safe systems of work.
• Undertake training in advanced composite manufacturing techniques & processes.
• Able to work night shift patterns in line with operational requirements
