Teaching assistants may be required to work at other schools in the trust, all locations are within the Newham borough.

Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Plaistow. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children with special educational needs and be committed to helping them achieve their full potential. This SEN Teaching Assistant role requires patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to student care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons and activities as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN in Plaistow.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support students with their personal care needs, including toileting and feeding.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing atmosphere for all students in Plaistow.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support student development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • A patient, compassionate, and empathetic demeanor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN or childcare are advantageous.
