Job Overview:

A leading London Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Head of Pensions and Treasury to provide outstanding leadership to their in-house pensions team and oversee the Council's treasury management function. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), as well as the development and implementation of the Council's Treasury Management Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the Pensions Team to ensure efficient administration of the LGPS and deliver a high-quality service to members and participating employers.

* Manage relationships with external service providers, including investment managers, third-party administrators, consultants, and advisors.

* Provide expert guidance and support to the Pension Fund Committee and Local Pension Board in fulfilling their duties.

* Ensure that pension fund investments align with the Council's agreed strategy and funding policies, and that statutory policies are regularly updated.

* Produce and oversee the timely auditing of the Council's annual pension fund accounts.

* Develop and implement the Council's Treasury Management Strategy, ensuring effective cash flow management, investments, and borrowing in line with the Medium Term Financial Plan.

* Provide advice to the S151 officer and elected representatives to inform key treasury management decisions.

* Maintain robust controls and compliance with the Council's Treasury policies and practices.

Minimum Criteria:

* Proven experience in a similar role for a large local authority.

* Expertise in Pensions and Treasury management.

* CIPFA (or other CCAB) qualification is essential.
