Mainframe Consultant (REXX, CICS, VSAM, DDP, OSA) required for an initial 6-month role with our blue chip Insurance client in Glasgow, though the role can be worked fully remotely.
The right candidate must have demonstrable experience in Mainframe Support and Administration, installing, upgrading and configuring Mainframe multi-vendor hardware & software and should have extensive experience in a range of Mainframe related technologies and tools, including but not limited to REXX (CMS & VSE), VSAM catalogues, OSA Network adaptors, CICS and DB2.
The role must be engaged via an FCSA accredited Umbrella company, and the role can be worked fully remotely.
Essential Skills:
- Previous experience Installing/Upgrading, Configuring, Maintaining and Supporting Mainframe multi-vendor Hardware and Software.
- Ability to assist in the Creation, Implementation and Maintenance of REXX procedures (CMS and VSE) for supporting and automating system functions, developers' tasks and Operators tasks.
- Implementing, Maintaining and supporting Mainframe performance and capacity management: CPU, Disk Space (VSAM catalogues, Dynamic Disk Pools, Virtual Tape libraries etc.), OSA Network adapters, CICS user experience.
- Implementing, Maintaining and Supporting logical connectivity between Mainframe Applications and Network Applications (Middleware).
- Configuring, Implementing, Maintaining and Supporting the monitoring and alerting for all Mainframe components and systems.
- Creating, Implementing and Maintaining Mainframe system related documentation and procedures.
- Assisting in Audit requirements and reporting as and where required.
- Acting as a technical resource to support additional Operator tasks as required.
- Consulting and advising on future programmes of work regarding current obstacles.
- Acting as a technical resource to support the Mainframe Development team as required.
