About the Role:
Mech Electrics are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team working on a high-profile new build prison project in Kent. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a strong background in mechanical and electrical (M&E) surveying to contribute to a significant and challenging project, ensuring its successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management: Manage and control project costs, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.
Procurement: Oversee the procurement process, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and selection of subcontractors and suppliers.
Valuation: Prepare and agree on interim valuations, final accounts, and variations with clients and subcontractors.
Contract Administration: Administer contracts effectively, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, and managing any disputes or claims that arise.
Financial Reporting: Produce regular financial reports, providing detailed analysis of project progress, cost variances, and budgetary control.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with project costs and schedules.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met within budget and on time.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Degree Qualified
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a significant portion in the M&E sector. Experience with new build projects, particularly in the public sector or on a prison, will be highly advantageous.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and law.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Proficient in the use of relevant software and tools (e.g., MS Excel, cost management software).
Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
