Reed Accountancy & Finance is partnering with an esteemed client in Folkestone to offer a dynamic and engaging opportunity for an Assistant Accountant. This role is ideal for individuals who are looking to expand their accounting skills in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Assistant Accountant Job Description:As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance department during a period of significant transition and growth. You will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of financial statements, maintaining cost reports, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information.

Assistant Accountant Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
  • Perform reconciliations of bank accounts and transaction postings.
  • Assist with budget preparation and track expenses, highlighting variances.
  • Support the finance team in the completion of ledger entries and audit preparations.
  • Help manage accounts payable and receivable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Participate in the implementation of new accounting policies and systems.
  • Provide support during the end-of-month and end-of-year closing.
  • Assist with tax computations and returns.
  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.

Assistant Accountant Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g. SAP).
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
