Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Children's Manager to lead and manage a well-established, Ofsted-registered children's residential home in Birmingham. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the home, ensuring that children receive the highest standard of care in a safe, nurturing, and compliant environment. You must have a strong background in managing an Ofsted-registered children's home and be fully registered with Ofsted to be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee all aspects of the home's day-to-day operations, ensuring the home runs efficiently, and children's needs are met with high standards of care.
Ensure Ofsted Compliance: Maintain full compliance with Ofsted regulations and requirements. Lead and support the home through Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home maintains a “Good” or “Outstanding” rating.
Leadership and Staff Management: Lead, motivate, and manage a team of care staff, ensuring they are trained, supported, and providing excellent care. Conduct regular supervisions and appraisals.
Develop and Review Care Plans: Ensure that all care plans are person-centered and regularly reviewed, meeting the individual needs of each child. Work with families, social workers, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children.
Safeguarding and Child Protection: Ensure all safeguarding protocols are followed, and the safety and wellbeing of the children are always prioritized. Lead on safeguarding matters and work with external agencies as required.
Financial and Budget Management: Manage the home's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining high standards of care. Monitor spending, staffing levels, and operational costs.
Monitoring and Reporting: Ensure accurate record-keeping, including children's files, staff records, and incident reports, in line with regulatory requirements. Prepare reports for senior management and external stakeholders as needed.
Staff Development and Training: Ensure all staff receive ongoing training to meet mandatory care sector requirements and encourage professional development. Implement and maintain staff development plans to ensure high-quality care is consistently provided.
Liaise with Stakeholders: Build and maintain positive relationships with social workers, families, local authorities, and other external partners to ensure collaborative care and support for the children.
Quality Assurance: Regularly evaluate the quality of care provided and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance the service.
Key Skills & Qualifications:

Registered with Ofsted: Must be registered with Ofsted as the manager of a children's residential home.
Experience: Proven experience as a manager within an Ofsted-registered children's residential home, with a strong understanding of the regulations and requirements involved.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team to deliver the highest standards of care.
Child-Centered Approach: A genuine passion for working with children and providing a safe and supportive environment to meet their individual needs.
Knowledge of Safeguarding: In-depth knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures and the ability to implement these effectively.
Qualifications: A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with children, staff, families, and external professionals.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Resilience and Problem-Solving: Ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure, ensuring the best outcomes for both staff and children.
