Head of Design and Technology

A vibrant and forward-thinking mixed secondary school in Ealing is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Design and Technology to lead and shape the department. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced teacher to take on a full-time role, with the position available immediately and a long-term contract running at least until July 2025. The salary will be in line with the Outer London Leadership Scale, with the opportunity to influence the development of the department. Staff parking is available.

Head of Design and Technology - Ealing, London

* Lead and manage the Design and Technology department, providing vision, direction, and support to a team of dedicated teachers, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all Key Stages.
* Develop and implement innovative and inspiring curricula that engage students, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills in design and technology.
* Ensure the department runs effectively and efficiently, including overseeing resources, planning, and coordinating projects to ensure the highest standards of teaching, assessment, and student progress.
* Promote a positive and collaborative team environment, mentoring and supporting colleagues while leading by example in both teaching and professional development.
* Foster students' passion for design and technology, helping them develop key skills that will benefit them in their future careers and in life, while maintaining high levels of motivation and achievement across the department.
* Contribute to the ethos of the school, playing an active role in shaping a dynamic and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive academically and personally.

Qualifications and Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* A relevant degree in Design and Technology or a related field
* Proven leadership experience in teaching Design and Technology, with a track record of successfully leading a department
* Strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff
* Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
* Approachable, innovative, and committed to driving continuous improvement and departmental success
