We are recruiting a Veterinary Manager on behalf of our client. We are looking for a dedicated individual with a strong commitment to animal welfare. Someone with exceptional leadership skills who can provide veterinary management across multiple sites. Basic Requirements:
* MRCVS/MVM/VMD (Veterinary Degree)
* Be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
* NVS qualified or happy to train and attend a suitable course within one year of NVS appointment.
* Experience in the field of laboratory animals as a veterinary surgeon.
* Ability to work in compliance with ISO 9001 Quality systems and procedures to effectively maintain quality documentation
* Manage a team in multiple locations
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Be familiar with the main provisions of ASPA and vet regulatory procedures in accordance with laboratory bred animals
* Operate a programme of veterinary care and health monitoring
* Be actively involved, on a day-to-day basis, in safeguarding the welfare of the protected animals at the establishment
* Monitor the health and welfare of the animals under your care by regularly visiting all parts of your establishment specified in the establishment licence
* Ensure that adequate veterinary cover and services are available at all times at your establishment
* Performance of pre-shipment health checks of groups of animals to be shipped
* Ensuring routine breeder health checks are completed
* Advise on biosecurity issues and be able to advise on quarantine requirements and health screening
* Have a thorough knowledge of the husbandry, housing and welfare needs of animals
* Comply with the requirements of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations relating to the supply and use of controlled drugs
* Undertake prearranged (non-urgent) and emergency surgeries
* Performance of NVS audit of facility
* Be an active member of, and play a central role in the AWERB meetings
* Delegation of certain duties to competent animal care staff via a clearly defined first aid treatment protocol
* Responsible for coaching and mentoring vet tech assistant (reporting line)
