Our client wants someone to provide engineering design and support functions, and to be responsible for small projects or sub-sections of larger projects under instruction of more senior engineers.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will have the following benefits:

  • 37 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 8.30am to 4:30pm, 4pm finish on a Friday)
  • Based onsite Kirkbymoorside (Hybrid/home working unavailable)
  • 22 days holidays and 8 bank holidays

Mechanical Design Engineer job description:


• Manage design projects from initial concept/enquiry through detailed design to manufacturing handover.


• Provide design input on projects, using the technical competencies listed below.


• Generation of ideas for developments and new products.


• Be responsible for small projects, or sub-sections or larger projects.


• Produce engineering designs, specifications, and documentation to ISO 9001.


• Assist in the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals.


• Offsite engineering support for new products.


• Assist sales and marketing in the preparation of quotes and proposals.


• Assist in the training of customer operating personnel.


• Provide technical support to the production, logistics and integration departments.

Education/Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related/equivalent subject (lesser qualifications coupled with suitable design experience may be considered in exceptional circumstances).

Key Skills:


• Safety conscious, attentive to QHS&E policies and regulations (ISO 9001 QA systems).


• Sound engineering knowledge.


• Technical drawing competence as defined above.


• Software skills, Microsoft Office Suite, 2D and 3D CAD (e.g. AutoCAD/DraftSight, SolidWorks).


• Willingness to learn new engineering skills.
