Cranleigh STEM is working with a leading Oxford spin-out, dedicated to harnessing cutting-edge surface chemistry for sustainable applications in the future. By utilising their advanced technology, they can manipulate surface behaviour, fundamentally transforming the functionality of diverse products and technologies.

The company is experiencing extensive growth in all areas of the team and is now recruiting a new R&D Scientist to join its team. Based out of their Oxford facility, you will take a vital role in driving R&D projects and the development of novel coatings through groundbreaking experimental work.

This role will suit a highly qualified Chemist (ideally at PhD level) possessing some industrial experience focusing on synthetic organic chemistry.

R&D Scientist responsibilities

Drive R&D projects working closely with the wider team, from conception to manufacturing scale-up, to bring game-changing products to market.
Develop novel crosslinkers and coatings through lab-based experimental work and literature research.
Perform, collect, and interpret analytical data and present findings to the wider team.
Close collaboration with other team members to determine the technical direction of synthesis projects.
Identification of exciting new project areas for future R&D programs, including conducting proof-of-concept testing.R&D Scientist requirements

PhD level qualification (MSc also encouraged to apply if you bring strong experience) in chemistry or closely related.
Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry.
Strong appreciation of chemical characterisation.
Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and to rapidly deliver a product to market.
Ability to plan and manage own work streams as well as working as part of a team.
Demonstrable problem-solving capability.
