Role details:
Our client, a leading company in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a Safety Engineer to join their team in Stevenage or Bristol. This permanent position offers a dynamic working environment with hybrid working options, providing an excellent opportunity to leverage your safety, reliability, and system engineering skills on sophisticated and exciting defence products.

Key Responsibilities:

Optimize safety assurance efforts for technically complex missile systems, balancing safety against performance requirements.
Analyze system operations and determine the most cost-effective ways to demonstrate hazard mitigation.
Develop and construct a convincing safety case with appropriate evidence, considering time and budget constraints.
Use a variety of techniques (Hazard Analysis, Functional Failure Analysis, FTA, etc.) to support safety evaluations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate safety and systems engineering processes.
Deliver comprehensive Safety Case Reports, including supporting documentation.
Ensure compliance with UK and international safety standards, particularly Def Stan 00-056.
Contribute to internally funded research projects and safety-focused investigations.
Apply your knowledge of electronic systems (or other engineering areas) to address associated safety issues.
Collaborate with customers to ensure their safety requirements are met to their satisfaction.

What We're Looking For:

A deep understanding of how hazard analysis and safety evaluation processes integrate with the system engineering lifecycle.
Proven experience in delivering comprehensive Safety Case Reports, along with supporting documentation such as Hazard Analysis, Functional Failure Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
Strong knowledge of UK and international safety and systems engineering standards, particularly Def Stan 00-056.
Familiarity with complex electronic systems and their safety challenges. Experience in other engineering disciplines (e.g., software, design, manufacturing) will also be considered, provided the candidate demonstrates the right skill set.
A proven track record of working effectively in multidisciplinary and multinational teams, both internally and with customers.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ideally, a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
