About Us:

Search Consultancy is looking for an organised, motivated, and proactive Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic finance team in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for working in finance to build and develop their skills in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the company, assisting with both the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing and reconciling purchase and sales invoices.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
  • Supporting the processing of expenses and staff reimbursements.
  • Assisting with credit control, chasing overdue payments, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Posting journal entries and updating the general ledger.
  • Maintaining and updating financial records and filing systems.
  • Assisting with VAT returns and other tax-related filings.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end processes, including audit preparation.
  • Providing ad-hoc administrative and financial support to the team as required.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance-related role (ideally 1-2 years).
  • A good understanding of basic accounting principles and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level) and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well within a team and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and solve problems.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with payroll processing or assisting with payroll functions.
  • Knowledge of VAT and tax regulations.
  • AAT (or equivalent) qualification (or working towards it).
