About The RoleTeam – Data ScienceWorking Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality London Office. Full time, 37.5 hours per week. We are happy to discuss flexible working! Top 3 skills needed for this role:

What this role is all about:As a Lead Data Scientist, you’ll be responsible for taking a lead role in the identification, development and deployment of key projects within the team.  You’ll be a technical lead on the projects you are responsible for and take responsibility for driving those projects to delivery.  You’ll coordinate the work of the data scientists working on the projects you are responsible for as well as exert influence within the cross-functional project teams tasked with deployment of our finished applications. Key Actions
  • Implementing the machine learning life cycle: Building models in a structured manner following best practice in the collection and analysis of modelling data, feature engineering, model fitting, selection, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring. In addition to delivery of traditional ML models you will have a strong working knowledge of applied GenAI techniques.
  • Delivering high impact projects: Leading projects with well-defined business benefits.
    • Leading projects to delivery.
    • Leveraging your experience of working on previous projects to deliver new projects quickly and working with commitment and urgency to achieve this.
    • Managing several competing projects concurrently, prioritising your time effectively so as not to compromise delivery.
  • Engaging stakeholders: Working with stakeholders to understand their core needs and requirements to facilitate the identification and delivery of high impact projects.
  • Building and transferring skills and knowledge: Taking responsibility for developing personal skills and expertise aligned to your role.
  • Applying risk management and governance: Considering potential risks at every stage of a project.
    • Championing model governance and data protection.
  • Collaborating within and across teams: Working effectively together with others across varying areas of expertise to achieve the required results.
What do you need to thrive?
  • Undergraduate degree in numerical subject.
  • Significant experience accessing and analysing data using SQL and Python.
  • Significant experience using commonly used regression and classification algorithms.
  • Experience developing and deploying GenAI applications.
  • Experience working with IT delivery teams to deploy models into production.
  • Experience (5+ yrs) working as a data scientist.
  • Expert in the process of building and implementing machine learning models to solve business problems.
  • Ability to prioritise work in relation to likely business impact.
  • Communicates effectively to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with the business to identify new projects.
