Proposals Engineer / Junior Proposals Engineer

Location: Scotland

Salary: £42K (Senior) / up to £30K (Junior)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri)

DATS Engineering, on behalf of our esteemed client, is seeking two talented individuals to join their dynamic team as a Proposals Engineer and a Junior Proposals Engineer. The roles are based in either Scotland or Warrington, offering competitive salaries and ample opportunities for career development.

Proposals Engineer:

As a Proposals Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating and delivering high-quality, accurate, and competitive technical proposals for Systems Integration (PLC, HMI, SCADA, and Telemetry). You will liaise closely with clients and engineering teams throughout the bidding process.

Junior Proposals Engineer:

The Junior Proposals Engineer role is suited for individuals with a basic understanding of the essential skills required for the main role. You will receive structured training and ongoing mentoring to develop your expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

* Review tender enquiry packages and identify any commercial, technical, or contractual risks.

* Prepare accurate and competitive costings for labour and materials, liaising with subcontractors and suppliers as needed.

* Work with engineering teams to clarify technical requirements and agree on proposed solutions.

* Organise and participate in internal technical reviews and produce professional technical proposal documents.

* Attend site visits and client meetings as required.

* Follow up with clients on proposals and update the CRM system.

* Participate in internal kick-off meetings for successful tenders.

* Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of estimating tools.

Essential Skills:

For the Proposals Engineer role:

* Technical knowledge of PLC control systems, HMI, SCADA hardware, and telemetry systems.

* Experience in creating and submitting estimating proformas and using pricing routines.

* Strong communication skills at all organisational levels.

For the Junior Proposals Engineer role:

* Basic knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and telemetry systems is acceptable.

Qualifications:

* NVQ Level 3 Engineering or equivalent.

* Working towards or possessing a relevant engineering degree or equivalent.
