The Role: As a Private Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), entrepreneurs, business owners, trusts, and non-domiciled clients, delivering high-quality tax advisory and compliance services. You will play a key role in managing client relationships, leading a team, and contributing to the firm's ongoing growth.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage a diverse private client portfolio, ensuring timely and accurate completion of personal tax returns.
- Provide tailored tax planning advice on inheritance tax (IHT), capital gains tax (CGT), trusts, estate planning, and non-domicile taxation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships with HNWIs and business owners.
- Oversee and review tax compliance work prepared by junior team members, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Work closely with partners and directors to identify and develop tax planning opportunities.
- Support HMRC investigations and tax dispute resolution where necessary.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of private tax professionals, ensuring their development and progression.
- Stay up to date with evolving tax legislation and provide technical insights to clients and internal teams.
Key Requirements: - CTA, ATT, or ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
- Significant experience in private client tax, ideally within a reputable accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of IHT, CGT, trusts, residence & domicile issues, and succession planning.
- Proven experience managing client relationships and delivering high-quality tax advisory services.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
- A proactive and commercial mindset, identifying opportunities for both clients and the firm.
