Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Pay: £90 - £120 per day D.O.ELocation: London, South Setting: Secondary Schools Contract Type: Long-term contract (with the option of permanent), Full-Time Hays are currently recruiting experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSA's) for a number of secondary schools across South London. We are looking for experienced, passionate, and patient Learning Support Assistants to play a huge part in the educational progression and success of an often overlooked, and yet increasing number of students requiring SEND support.

Role Summary:As an experienced Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with additional needs. You'll work closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other professionals to create an inclusive classroom experience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with specific learning difficulties, disabilities, or behavioural challenges.
  • Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies. Incorporating the use of AAC (Augmentative Alternative Communication) resources for students with speech and language difficulties.
  • Supporting students during lessons, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully.
  • Promoting independence and self-confidence amongst students.
  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt materials and resources as needed.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks related to student records and progress tracking.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with additional needs (SEND experience essential).
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Essential:

  • Experience of working with young people aged 11 to 18 within an educational or residential care setting in the UK.
