Connection Design Engineer - Structural Steel

Salary: £40-£60k

Summary of Role:

Due to increasing demand, our client is seeking an additional experienced Connection Design Engineer with a sound Structural Steel and fabrication background. The successful candidate will be responsible for heading a team, overseeing projects related to connection design, and liaising with the team in India. The candidate will work on connections for Structural Steel, ensuring projects are delivered safely, to cost, and quality specifications.

Role Description:

Design and Analysis:

Generate and verify calculations for various types of connections and joint configurations.
Perform detailed connection design using Masterseries, Ambull, and hand calculations.
Identifying what processes will be carried out on each connection i.e welding, plating, etc.
Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure structural integrity and compliance with standards.
Project Management:

Lead and manage projects, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
Develop design philosophies and strategies for connection designs.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including the team in India.
Technical Expertise:

Utilize CAD software for detailed connection design and drafting.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards such as Eurocodes, AISC, and BS.
Prepare design analyses and temporary stability member designs.
CAD Detailing:

Utilize CAD software for detailed connection design and drafting.Essential Requirements:

Extensive experience in structural steel design, particularly in connection design.
Background in heavy engineering or fabrication.
Proficiency with design software such as Masterseries and Ambull.
Strong understanding of structural analysis and design principles.
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (Eurocodes, AISC, BS).
Experience performing detailed calculations for various types of connections and joint configurations.Desirable Requirements:

Professional Engineering (PE) license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
Membership in professional bodies such as the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
Experience with advanced simulation and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials
