Sharper Consulting Services is working on behalf of our client in Sussex, seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO)/Noise and Acoustics Planning Consultant to review and assess planning applications for potential noise and acoustic impacts.

Rate: £40-£45 per hour

10 hours per week

You will provide expert advice to ensure that developments comply with relevant noise regulations and contribute to creating livable, sustainable environments.

Duties

* Provide expert advice on mitigation measures to control and reduce noise pollution.

* Ensure compliance with local and national planning policies, environmental standards, and noise regulations.

* Liaise with planning officers, developers, and other stakeholders regarding noise impact assessments.

* Conduct on-site visits (1-2 days per month) to verify compliance and conduct noise surveys when necessary.

* Prepare reports and recommendations for planning officers and committees.

* Stay up to date with relevant legislation, guidelines, and best practices in noise and acoustics planning.

Requirements:

* Proven experience in noise and acoustics assessment, particularly in the context of planning and development.

* In-depth knowledge of environmental noise regulations and standards.

* Diploma in Acoustics or equivalent qualification.

* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret noise data and technical reports.

* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a part-time schedule.

* Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., Institute of Acoustics)

* BSc/MSc/Diploma in Environmental Health
