Job Profile
We are looking for experienced Senior IT Support Specialist to join our HPC team.
Reporting to the Data Center IT Services Manager, you will be responsible for providing a senior level of technical support in configuring, troubleshooting, isolating, repairing and resolving user desktop issues. This support will be inclusive of desktop/laptop/tablet hardware and software, mobile devices, printer/scanners/copiers, audio visual equipment, hardware peripherals and other desktop related equipment.
As a Senior IT Support Specialist, you will also be expected to lead the innovation and development of new technologies, to train and mentor other team members and to help automate and analyze problem resolution. This role also includes work and responsibilities using cloud technology.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Improve and develop our systems, technology, and infrastructure, alongside providing third line technical support;
- Mentor and coach junior members of the team.
- Make sure the operational maintenance model, and the tools used, are efficient and well-designed.
- Understanding the client's needs and converting this into technical solutions is important as well as the continued stability, availability, and performance of the platforms
Qualifications
Degree in any of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related computing subjects
Skills and Experiences
Required:
- Minimum of five years of experience in relevant fields.
- Extensive Linux administration skills.
- Good experience with Agile project management.
- Knowledge of FAI, Puppet, and Zabbix, Ansible
- ITIL Foundation level certification.
- Scripting and automation skills.
- Ticketing and incident management
- Fast and effective problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to work.
- An enthusiastic attitude towards learning and flexibility to adapt to new challenges or changes in direction.
- The ability to define and manage project deadlines.
- Effective communication.
Desired:
- High level understanding of DevOps methodologies.
- Knowledge of some of the following: OpenStack, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Docker, etc.
- Experience in HPC environment
- Cloud administration experience.
- Virtualization knowledge and experience.
- Experience in hardware maintenance (storage, CPU, GPU).
