This Risk & Assurance Analyst position will report to the Risk & Assurance Manager and will work within the Human Resources directorate based in our London office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary depending on your level of experience and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose

This position is ideal for an experienced analyst looking to use their skills or an individual eager to develop their data analysis and communication abilities within a supportive and dynamic environment. As a Risk and Assurance Analyst at UK Power Networks, you will help ensure the integrity and effectiveness of our risk management and assurance processes. You will gain broad exposure across the entire organisation, contributing to our status as a high-performing Distribution Network Operator.

You will contribute to the Risk and Assurance team, tasked with identifying, mitigating and monitoring risks across UK Power Networks, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls. The Risk and Assurance function within the company is headed by the Head of Risk and Assurance who reports to the UK Power Networks Board via the Audit Committee and the Risk Management and Compliance Committee.

  • Risk & Assurance Management Information - Own and enhance the Risk and Assurance Management Information system, ensuring accurate reporting and monitoring for all partners, including action owners, Senior Management Team (SMT), and Executive Management Team (EMT).

  • Quarterly Reporting - Support the accurate preparation of quarterly reports on Risk and Assurance activities for the Board.

  • System Ownership - Take full ownership of the Risk and Assurance workflow system, Synergi, including its ongoing development to better meet the needs of the team and the broader business.

  • Data Analysis Support - Provide expertise in data analysis techniques across all Risk and Assurance team, including Audit, Regulatory Compliance, Fraud Investigations, and Enterprise Risk. Use tools such as PowerBI, IDEA, SQL, and Excel to find insights from complex data sets.

  • Continuous Improvement - Promote the continuous improvement of the audit actions closing process, ensuring that actions mitigate identified risks and are measurable. Lead or support broader continuous improvement projects across the Risk and Assurance function.

  • Risk Assessment - Help conduct risk assessments to evaluate the significance of identified risks and their potential impact on the business. Collaborate with departments to implement best practices and controls that align with UK Power Networks' strategic goals.

  • Projects- Where interested, participate in specific audits, compliance reviews, and integrity cases to broaden your experience and contribute to important risk management activities.

Qualifications

Essential skills/experience:

  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret and draw insights from complex data sets.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as PowerBI, IDEA, Tableau, and Excel.

  • The ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

  • Consistently looking for opportunities for efficiency and process improvements.

Advantageous experience:

  • Previous experience in risk or assurance roles, with an understanding of risk management principles and best practices.

  • Experience working within a Distribution Network Operator, utility company, or a similar regulated environment.

  • Familiarity with the UK regulatory landscape for energy and utilities, including understanding compliance requirements and industry standards.
