Opportunity:

Are you an environmental planner, engineer or consultant in the early stage of their career, looking for that next key step on the ladder? Do you like the idea of advising on one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe? If so, this Environmental Advisor vacancy could be the stop for you. As the new Environmental Advisor, you'll have the opportunity to assist in the key environmental inputs needed to support the progression of a key infrastructure project in the UK. On top of this, you'll be working alongside professionals from multiple backgrounds including engineering, engagement, communications, heritage and various environmental specialisms. Being part of such a diverse team means you'll be exposed to new methods and practices within the built and natural environment, allowing for your own continued personal development.

Responsibility:

As the new Environmental Advisor, you will be supporting the Environment Manager to help assure the timely completion of a major infrastructure project. The project requires a Bill to be passed through Parliament, for that to happen you will be assisting with the provision of accurate environmental inputs such as EIAs as well as supporting with the delivery of both additional provision and supplementary environment statements. Community engagement will also be incorporated into this Environmental Advisor role, with one of your duties being the identification and assessment of environmental risks brought up by petitions and the workstreams devised to address those risks. You'll be preparing necessary environmental evidence and materials for meetings with stakeholders such as MPs and local residents, the Select Committee and expert witnesses as well as attending meetings with petitioners to understand their concerns and help provide solutions that are acceptable for all parties involved.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Environmental Advisor position, you'll need to possess a good understanding of environmental technical information, such as the EIA process and very strong communication skills. A lot of your time will be spent speaking with others, so you'll need to be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders from both a technical and non-technical background and maintain those relationships once they're created. Experience in some form of environmental planning or engineering would be beneficial, as well as knowledge of project software such as G-viewer and CRM and a significant amount of experience with producing technical documentation and responses. You'll also need to be a member of a relevant professional body, understand GIS, interfaces between engineering and the environment and knowledge of the UK and EU legislation and regulations.
