Social Worker - Family Safeguarding Team, Bury Council

Randstad is currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding Team at Bury Council. This is a full-time locum opportunity offering up to £39 per hour, providing you with the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families within a supportive, multi-agency team environment.

About the Role

The Family Safeguarding model focuses on keeping families together through strength-based and trauma-informed practice. As a Social Worker in this team, you will work with children and their families where there are concerns around neglect, domestic abuse, substance misuse, and mental health-offering timely, targeted interventions that reduce risk and promote resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake clear, evidence-based assessments in line with statutory requirements.
Develop and implement outcome-focused support and safeguarding plans in partnership with families and multi-disciplinary professionals.
Engage directly with parents and carers to help create safer environments for children.
Use motivational interviewing techniques and trauma-informed approaches to effect positive change.
Participate actively in core groups, child protection conferences, and review meetings.
Maintain accurate and timely case recordings, demonstrating accountability and good practice.Requirements

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
Experience in statutory children's social work, preferably in safeguarding or family support teams.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Strong understanding of the legislative and policy framework for children's services.What We Offer
