12 monthsfixed term contractAbout the RoleForest of Dean, Cotswold, and West Oxfordshire District Councils are seeking a dedicated Emergency Housing Officer to manage temporary and emergency housing placements.

This role is pivotal in providing support to homeless clients, helping them access affordable housing options and reducing their time in short-term accommodation.

The successful candidate will work closely with vulnerable individuals, assisting them through challenging times and ensuring they have the necessary resources to secure long-term housing.

  • Handle a caseload of clients with complex issues in temporary accommodation such as B&Bs, hotels, and council-run hostels.
  • Assist homeless households in exploring and maximizing available housing options to transition from temporary accommodation quickly.
  • Support the Hostel Lead in conducting comprehensive risk assessments for clients before placement in council-managed accommodations.
  • Address tenancy issues promptly to ensure continued accommodation availability.
  • Conduct regular visits to temporary accommodations to ensure they are maintained and used appropriately.
  • Assist with the daily operations of homeless hostels, report repairs promptly, and ensure health and safety standards are met.

You will need…

  • GCSEs (5 A-Cs or equivalent, including Maths and English). A minimum qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or A-level is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience in housing, supported housing, or homelessness services.
  • Experience working in a hostel environment and with vulnerable individuals.
  • Proven experience in multi-agency working.
  • Experience managing complex cases and maintaining accurate records.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.

Special Conditions…

  • The role may require working at various Publica Group locations and reasonable additional hours to meet service needs.
  • Travel is required, and a full driving license is essential.
