Finance Assistant

  • Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 depending on experience

We are looking for a diligent Finance Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to managing receivables and payables, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations within the company.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Log into banking platforms daily to check balances and cash receipts.
  • Prepare for weekly wage payments and ensure readiness for debiting.
  • Reconcile receivables finance accounts monthly and liaise with the finance team.
  • Post all cash transactions to the accounting system promptly.
  • Manage sales ledger by matching invoices, posting to the accounting system, and sending invoices to customers.
  • Maintain accurate records by filing documents and reconciling statements.
  • Set up new customer accounts, ensuring accurate registration details.
  • Work with various payment systems and self-billing customers to ensure invoices are processed correctly.
  • Handle purchase ledger tasks, including updating purchase orders, matching delivery notes with invoices, and reconciling supplier statements.
  • Manage wage-related tasks, including recording holidays and sickness, calculating pay variations, and processing weekly payroll.
  • Prepare and send monthly cash receipts reports and statements of accounts to customers.
  • Assist with month-end closing tasks, including invoice and credit note verification, and preparing accruals.
  • Order stationery and manage inventory, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in finance or accounting roles.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, preferably SAGE.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and related software is an advantage.
