This permanent position calls for a dynamic and proactive legal professional to support various stakeholders in achieving corporate objectives and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing expert legal advice across a range of legal, democratic, contract, procurement, and corporate information management services
Supporting the Head of Legal Services with ensuring systems, processes, policies, and procedures align with statutory compliance and organisational objectives
Investigating matters and allegations under Sections 5 and 5A of the Local Government & Housing Act 1989
Assisting as the 'Proper Officer' for the preparation, publication, and retention of records for decisions taken by or on behalf of the organisation's Boards and Committees
Initiating and leading the design and implementation of new policies, systems, and approaches

Job Requirements:

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or FCILEX
Relevant legal experience with a comparable organisation or public body
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage and investigate reportable incidents
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
Proactive, collaborative, and professional demeanour
Understanding of the constitution and statutory requirements of public bodies
