Job description - the role
AMS is the world's leading provider of Talent Acquisition and Management Services. Our contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service acts as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provides professional interim and temporary resources. We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Site Manager for a 12-month contract based in London.

About the Opportunity:To address the climate emergency and reduce landfill waste, the North London Waste Authority (NLWA) is undertaking a comprehensive redevelopment of the EcoPark. This project includes the construction of the country's most environmentally friendly Energy Recovery Facility, alongside state-of-the-art recycling facilities. The existing facility is insufficient to manage the waste generated in North London. This redevelopment represents the most significant public sector investment in waste management infrastructure that London has seen in a generation. The NLWA is proud to set a benchmark for other waste authorities.
In this role you will:
- The NLHPP puts safety first, and the role has an important leadership contribution to supporting the programme wide effort in setting the standards for health, safety, and wellbeing. Therefore, the Construction Manager must have a good knowledge of site specific H&S.
- An essential part of the role is to monitor and record all site activities each day. Close attention to detail is required and the ability to recognise good working practices and compliance with agreed codes of practice relating to the ongoing construction works.
- The role requires the Construction Manager to engagement with LEL, and local external stakeholders.
- The construction manager will from time to time be required to escort visitors around the ERF site, including local Councill member and VIP's
- The ability to read and understand drawings and specifications is essential, and must be able to provide construction reports to the Lead Construction Manager
- Monitoring site wide HSE and reporting any potential risks, hazards or unsafe working activities to the Principal Contractor.
- Monitor progress on site and propose mitigations to assist with the construction works to the Lead Construction Manager.
- Preparing and maintaining concise site records.
- Receiving and reviewing RAMS associated with delivering the works to ensure compliance with requirements and legal duties and provide comments on the contents of the RAMs.
- As required by the Lead Construction Manager, review and comment on contractors' proposed methodologies as part of the work in assuring contractors' compliance with NLHPP requirements.
- Attend daily site coordination meetings
- Taking part in NLHPP team meetings.
- Provide accurate information to the NLHPP commercial team on all construction activities on request.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- CSCS card, SMSTS and/or SSSTS
- Previous experience in a site management role, including civil works, steel erection and MEP works.
- Communications skills to explain and consult with internal and external stakeholders on the NLHPP's construction activities, both verbally and in writing.
- Computer literate with knowledge of Word and Excel
- Experience in co-ordinating the work of main contractors, operators and third parties in the construction of complex infrastructure in an operational facility.
