Payroll Manager

We are looking for a Payroll Manager to support the operational management and delivery of payroll services, ensuring accurate and timely transactions for staff. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Payroll Services to develop reporting capacities and deputise in their absence.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Manage the operational delivery of payroll services, including work allocation and line management of Payroll Officers.
  • Process monthly payroll accurately and on time using the Cascade system.
  • Monitor data integration between Cascade HR and Cascade Payroll systems.
  • Liaise with HR to ensure accurate staff data flow for changes, new starters, and leavers.
  • Oversee monthly payroll checks for accuracy.
  • Manage systems for payments to sessional and variable hours staff.
  • Support salary reconciliation processes and ensure compliance with statutory bodies.
  • Complete monthly returns for pension providers and HMRC.
  • Develop and improve system reports to support the Payroll function.
  • Provide training on payroll topics and initiatives within the Group.
  • Deputise for the Head of Payroll Services as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous payroll experience and supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in maintaining computerised payroll and HR records.
  • Knowledge of payroll and pension regulations, processes, and procedures.
  • Advanced IT skills, excellent communication, and customer service skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Foundation Degree in Payroll Management or an equivalent level Payroll qualification.
Desirable:
  • Previous management experience.
  • Experience in the education sector and processing multiple payrolls.
  • Relevant pension qualification.
