The Role

A talented Fire Engineer is sought to join the highly skilled façade and engineering team, carrying out site inspections, reviewing fire risk assessments, and interpreting data from external wall investigations. The role involves applying relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices to deliver comprehensive fire safety reviews. Responsibilities include:

* Conducting holistic fire safety reviews and providing expert commentary on fire strategy, interim measures, mitigation actions, and proposed remediation.

* Carrying out fire risk assessments in compliance with current regulations and industry standards.

* Applying technical knowledge to assess external wall and cladding systems, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation.

* Working closely with project management and cost management teams to oversee remediation projects, including façade/cladding replacement, internal compartmentation work, and temporary alarm system installations.

* Staying informed on evolving fire safety regulations, best practices, and industry developments.

* Producing detailed and high-quality reports, correspondence, and documentation related to fire safety compliance and assessments.

Location & Flexible Working

This role will be based out of London, with national coverage primarily across England and Wales. Site inspections and meetings will be required, and hybrid working arrangements will be available, combining office and remote work.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will need to be fully conversant with current fire safety legislation and technical standards, possessing a thorough understanding of fire safety trends and best practices. Ideally, candidates should have a working knowledge or detailed understanding (depending on experience) of the following:

* Building Safety Act 2022

* Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022

* Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (as amended)

* Fire Safety Act 2021

* PAS 9980

* Building Regulations & Approved Documents (related to fire safety)

* Fire Safety in Purpose-Built Blocks of Flats

* LACoRS - Guidance on Fire Safety Provisions for Certain Types of Existing Housing

* NFCC - Fire Safety in Specialised Housing

* Understanding of building façade types

Candidates should hold a higher education qualification in engineering or a fire safety-related subject and be a Chartered Fire Engineer or a Fire Engineer with equivalent experience and expertise. Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) members should hold Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with full membership of the Institution. Non-IFE members should be fully qualified members of a relevant professional body in fire safety for the built environment, with equivalent Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
