Allen Lane is delighted to support the London Borough of Redbridge in their search for a Solutions Architect to ensure a robust, supportable, secure IT, Web and application development can be delivered to all council users. This is an exciting opportunity support the council through a number of exciting projects relating to their application architecture. This role is predominantly remote, with office attendance required once per quarter.

The role

As a Solutions Architect you will:

  • Develop and win acceptance for Solutions strategy development, including systems architecture, tools and techniques.
  • Take responsibility for the creation, selection, procurement and implementation of complex IT services council-wide
  • Put in place processes for assessment and review of new system or change proposals, to ensure a prompt decision on the viability of new systems.
  • Ensure that the council’s approach to systems development is in keeping with relevant best practice standards using up-to-date tools.
  • Develop and maintain of a roadmap for web and other application technologies, prioritising investment while managing risk appropriately.
  • Define and maintain architectural principles and standards for applications, interfaces and web based technologies.
  • Validate or to create IT system designs, ensuring that they will align with the technical landscape and IT strategy of the council and can deliver the required benefits.
  • Keep the council’s web sites under continual review, ensuring optimum performance and security of their functions and data.
  • To assess products for their fit with the IT environment, their supportability and ability to deliver the benefits required.

Key skills required

As a Solutions Architect you will have:

  • A background in applications/software development or an understanding of it
  • Experience in various approaches to digital development and the ability to recommend these to the council.
  • Proven experience of delivering high-value customer service to IT service customers
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience
  • A high level understanding of application architecture

Hands-on experience or knowledge of any of the following:

  • UI Path Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
  • ASP .NET, C#, object-orientated programming, MVC, Razor
  • HMTL, CSS, Javascript
  • Database integration using SQL Server
  • Web Service APIs
  • Microsoft Power Platform, 365, Sharepoint
  • Open technology stack
  • User experience design
  • Automated testing using Behavioral Driven Development
