Salary: £85 to £140 per day

The Role

Tempest Education, in partnership with several Special Educational Needs schools across the Richmond area, we are offering a rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant. You will support learners aged 4-19 with severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities (SLD/PMLD), many of whom have a co-diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role involves working at various sites, providing you with a diverse and enriching experience.

About You

The successful candidate will:

Have experience working with children and young people (experience with SLD/PMLD/ASC is an advantage).
Possess strong communication and numeracy skills.
Exhibit a creative, enthusiastic, imaginative, and caring approach to working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Hold high expectations for learner's achievements, particularly in communication, independence, community inclusion, and behaviour.

Duties and Responsibilities

Team Collaboration: Work as part of the staff team under the direction of the School Leadership Team, Class Teacher, or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support teaching and pupil's learning.
Learner Support: Respond to learner's diverse needs, providing challenging learning opportunities appropriate to their developmental levels.
Planning and Implementation: Utilise the Development Framework to contribute to planning and implementing best practices to meet individual learner needs.
Resource Development: Assist in planning, organising, and resourcing learning activities that promote communication and independence.
Curriculum Access: Support teaching through appropriate specialist strategies and inclusive ICT, helping learners access the full curriculum.
Progress Monitoring: Monitor and assess learner progress, using ICT effectively, and maintain records consistent with school systems.
Outcome Setting: Collaborate with the Class Teacher, HLTA, and other school professionals to set and review short-, medium-, and long-term outcomes.
Emotional and Social Development: Support learner's emotional and social development by encouraging and modelling positive behaviour and supporting self-regulation.
Parental Communication: Gather and report information to and from parents, adhering to the Home/School Communication Policy.
Inclusive Learning Activities: Accompany and support learners during inclusive activities within mainstream partner schools and work with mainstream learners during activities.
