Salary: £42,000 pro rata

We are recruiting an Interim Hotel Operations Manager for a unique property in Portsmouth. This role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate but is initially a 3 month interim role.

Main responsibilities of the Hotel Operations Manager:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring all departments are functioning efficiently and effectively, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage services.
• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance guest satisfaction and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Assist in managing hotel budget, including monitoring expenses, optimizing resource allocation, and implementing cost-control measures to maximize profitability.
• Coordinate with the human resources department to recruit, train, and evaluate hotel staff, ensuring a high level of service quality and guest experience.
• Liaise with the marketing and sales team to develop strategies that increase hotel occupancy and revenue, including promotional offers, package deals, and loyalty programs.
• Handle guest complaints and concerns with professionalism and tact, ensuring issues are resolved to the guest's satisfaction and identifying opportunities for service improvement.
• Supervise the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel property, including regular inspections and coordinating renovations or repairs to maintain aesthetics and functionality, in conjunction with the Chief Executive.
• Analyse market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for new services or amenities that could enhance the hotel's competitive edge and guest satisfaction
• Effective participation in all relevant meetings, including weekly HOD, revenue, payroll
• Coach and develop direct reports in a professional manner to improve their standards and professionalism
• Be a regular face on the floor, interacting with staff of all levels and guests
• Oversee the successful delivery of functions and events in conjunction with the F&B Manager
• Regularly sense check department rotas and staff training levels and act accordingly on any discrepancies
• Assist HODs with back of house procedures to maximise their time on the floor and effectiveness
• Deputise for the Chief Executive in their absence
• To communicate regularly and professionally to the Chief Executive any issues encountered with the hotel or its team via weekly 121s.
