Capio Recruitment is proud to be working with a Top 200 law firm to find a talented Court of Protection Solicitor to join their growing team. With flexibility to be based out of any of their offices, this is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive and well-regarded firm that has a strong reputation for delivering excellent client service in a range of practice areas.
The Role: As a Court of Protection Solicitor, you will be working on a broad range of matters, providing expert advice and support to vulnerable clients and their families. You will manage your own caseload of deputyship applications, complex mental capacity cases, and matters relating to the management of property and financial affairs. This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of Court of Protection matters, including deputyship applications, statutory wills, and contested proceedings.
- Advising on issues relating to mental capacity, care funding, and welfare decisions.
- Acting as a professional deputy or attorney for clients where necessary.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Working closely with other departments, including private client, family, and litigation, to provide a seamless service.
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant regulations and best practice guidance.
The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with experience in Court of Protection work. You will have a genuine passion for this area of law, excellent client care skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
You will need:
- At least 1 year post-qualification experience in Court of Protection or a related area such as private client or mental health law.
- A strong understanding of mental capacity law and issues affecting vulnerable individuals.
- Exceptional communication and empathy skills, with a client-focused approach.
- Experience managing your own caseload with minimal supervision.
- The ability to work effectively across departments and with external professionals.
- A commitment to developing your knowledge and expertise in this specialised area of law.
