Belmont Abbey is looking for a dynamic individual to oversee the financial and operational management of their staff, properties, and day-to-day affairs. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the beloved Abbey while staying true to its mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Compliance: Understand and uphold Charity Law to ensure Belmont Abbey operates within legal frameworks.
  • Site & Staff Development: Manage the growth and development of our site, people, and services, from maintenance to hospitality.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and nurture the staff members reporting to you, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment.
  • Site Management: Oversee building maintenance, developments, and potential changes in use.
  • Strategic Growth: Guide the Abbey's future expansion plans, including the development of conference facilities and on-site accommodation.
  • Promote the Abbey's Ethos: Champion our mission and values to ensure our community and facility remain aligned with the Benedictine spirit.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the Abbey's overall finances, budgeting, and cost control, ensuring sustainability and growth.
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the Abbot and Trustees to ensure smooth operations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Legal & Compliance Expertise: A good understanding of charity law and its practical application.
  • People Skills: A personable, approachable leader with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Alignment with Our Values: A deep understanding and empathy for the aims of a Catholic monastic community.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar managerial role.
  • A financial qualification or strong strategic experience in finance would be highly beneficial.
