Health & Safety Manager

Location: Goole, East Yorkshire

Salary: Circa £50k - £60k plus excellent benefits

A local Chemical Manufacturer are now looking for an engaging, hands-on Health and Safety Manager to join their team.

Health & Safety Manager - Job Role:

* Responsible for the implementation and regular review of all Safety, Health, Environmental activities on site.

* Maintain & develop Safe systems of work documents, Safe Working Procedures, and other SHEQ documentation.

* Risk assessment writing and updating for all current and future activities

* Accident & incident investigation- collating all information, interviews, and reporting.

* Ensure all team members are suitably trained and competent in relation to all site activities.

* Safety training, managing and development documentation.

* Legal requirements review & updates.

* Safe site operations, paperwork, signage, alarm warning systems.

* Chair regular Steering group meetings

* Issuing site safety reports.

* Maintaining a good level of housekeeping standards

* Identifying the most suitable and legal compliant PPE & RPE to be used on site as well as ensuing pre use checks are carried out

* Ensure all SHEQ documentation is formally reviewed in line with External requirements and ISO standards.

* Contractors' documentation checks and controls (RAMS)

* Ensuring the sites emergency plans are routinely audited and validated through evacuation drills.

* Ensuring that the directors are kept abreast of any new or changes to legislation that are likely to affect the company.

* Ensure all internal and external audit requirements are met.

* Responsible for the maintenance and development of ISO 9001.

Health & Safety Manager - Person Requirements:

The ideal candidate MUST come from the Manufacturing Industry as a Health & Safety Manager. You will also have the following skills, qualifications or experience:

* Hold a NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 5, NCRQ or Equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety

* Member of IOSH

* Ideally hold an Environmental Management Qualification such as IEMA or NEBOSH

* Experience of Behavioural Safety and promoting a positive HSE Culture

* Have a pro-active and hands-on approach

* Be engaging and experienced in gaining buy-in from all levels
