We are currently recruiting for a company based on the outskirts of Leighton Buzzard, who are seeking a Maintenance Surveyor to join their established property maintenance team. Please note, for this role, you do need extensive experience.

Due to our clients remote location, you will need to be a driver, and have a vehicle available. There are no public transport routes nearby.

Working Hours:

  • 08:00am to 17:00pm, Monday to Friday (40-hours a week), and on-call 1 week in 10.

Purpose of Position:

  • To deliver a first class repairs and maintenance service.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake annual stock condition surveys.
  • To instruct and supervise work for the in-house maintenance operatives.
  • To raise works orders for in house staff and external contractors, using bespoke software.
  • To produce accurate and concise reports using Office applications and bespoke software.
  • To manage contractors.
  • Carry out inspections and diagnose building defects and produce specifications.
  • Specify and implement thermal improvement works, generally to older or listed buildings.
  • To undertake quality assurance inspections and produce reports.
  • Monitor contractor’s progress.
  • Project manage various contracts.
  • Prepare tender documentation and project manage contract works.
  • Programming, financial control and administration.
  • To produce accurate estimates for building works.
  • To update computerised records.
  • To fully understand Health and Safety, including CDM regulations.
  • Be available on-call on a rota basis.

Skills Required:

  • Experience of building maintenance - Essential.
  • Experience of contract administration - Essential.
  • IT literate (MS word Excel) - Essential.
  • Good communication skills - Essential.
  • A demonstrable knowledge of building standards, planning regulations, regulatory standards - Essential.
  • Managing and maintenance of historic buildings - Desirable.
  • Experience of JCT contracts - Desirable.
  • Working towards CIOB or RICS membership - Desirable.
  • Relevant Degree - Desirable.
