This rapidly scaling renewable energy business has experienced stellar growth and brand recognition since its inception 4 years ago. Having recently gone through Series A funding, it is now placed to take the next step in it's journey with increased focus on technology development, international expansion and commercialisation.
Backed by a number of the Renewable Energy Sector's leading investors, this highly exciting business is playing a significant role in protecting and repairing our climate.
To facilitate continued growth, the company is now seeking to recruit its first CFO.
The role will include:
- Partner the Founder/CEO and Board, providing tactical and strategic financial guidance
- Lead the Finance & Compliance functions, and involvement with the Legal function.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy to support commercialisation and scaling objectives, ensuring alignment with the long-term vision and business goals.
- Define and own the strategy for all future fundraising efforts of the company, including equity and debt rounds, M&A activity, and future IPO plans.
- Take responsibility for typical finance deliverables, including; Monthly reporting Budgeting and forecasting, Year-end accounts and audit, Tax strategy and compliance, Treasury, FX and liquidity management, Maintaining key bank and external stakeholder relationships.
- Implement robust risk management practices to safeguard the company's financial health.
- Present to the Board and provide updates to shareholders and potential investors on a regular basis
- Lead efforts to access low-cost capital, including project/debt financing, and build relationships with infrastructure funds, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Assist with the negotiation of complex deals and contracts with major suppliers, customers and financial stakeholders, ensuring the financial viability and sustainability of projects.
- Build and own the company's techno-economic models and be responsible for driving key strategic activities to reduce unit economics.
Required candidate profile:
- An experienced CFO, ideally with knowledge of the energy and/or infrastructure sectors.
- The ideal candidate has experience with start-ups, commercialising new technologies, scaling hardware or serviced based companies, energy infrastructure, or asset-heavy businesses, fundraising, and structuring complex projects using project or infrastructure financing.
- Experience in adjacent industries such as oil & gas, renewables, mining, geothermal or similar is a plus.
- Comfortable with the hands-on approach required to excel within a young, growing business.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and execute complex financial strategies, make sound financial decisions independently, and present a compelling & comprehensive vision that is grounded in data and rigorous financial modelling.
- Passionate about developing new solutions to fight climate change and committed to having a positive impact on people and the planet.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with demonstrated success in building and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Understand and are familiar with the benefits of the funding instruments available to start-ups across debt, capital raising and grants.
