Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in the construction sector. The ideal candidate will manage financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry-specific standards. This role is critical in supporting our client's continued growth and delivering financial insight for effective decision-making.

This is a temporary contract role that will be required for up to 3 months.

Accountant - 3 Month Contract

Benefits:

Day rate equivalent of up to £70,000

Accountant - 3 Month Contract

Key Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, payments, and reconciliations.
Prepare financial statements, budgets, and management accounts.
Oversee project costing, ensuring correct allocation of expenses to construction projects.
Maintain VAT, CIS, and payroll compliance.
Liaise with project managers to monitor financial performance and cost tracking.
Handle monthly cash flow forecasting and variance analysis.
Provide financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Assist with year-end audit preparation and statutory accounts.

Accountant - 3 Month Contract

Required Experience & Skills:

Essential: Previous accounting experience in the construction industry.
Professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or part-qualified with significant industry experience.
Strong knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and VAT within construction.
Excellent skills in financial software (Sage/QuickBooks or similar) and advanced Excel.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work to deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with internal teams and external suppliers.

Desirable:

Experience with project-based accounting and cost management.
Familiarity with construction contracts and sub-contractor accounting.
