Location: Swindon - North Star Campus & Queens Drive Campus

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 per annum

As the Director of Digital, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the organisational digital strategy, ensuring seamless integration of enterprise software, data infrastructure and IT solutions to support business operations and decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and the ability to work across departments to ensure seamless and efficient information flow.

What you will do as a Director of Digital

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital, IT, and data strategy aligned with New College Swindon’s strategic vision.
  • Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other Stakeholders to ensure technology solutions align fully with business needs,
  • Foster a digital-first culture, encouraging innovation, collaboration, and the adoption of emerging technologies to modernise work practices.
  • Manage IT service delivery, contracts, and frameworks to deliver robust, systems that enhance efficiency and transparency.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and how they can be utilised to improve processes, foster innovation, and enhance the student and colleague experience.
  • Manage end-to-end IT projects, including the integration of technologies to support curriculum growth plans, and the achievement and maintenance of Cyber Essentials.
  • Lead the administration, maintenance, and optimisation of IT and digital systems to maximise uptime, security, and user satisfaction.
  • Develop and enforce IT governance frameworks, aligning with regulatory compliance requirements, including GDPR and the Cyber Essentials scheme.
  • Drive a risk-based approach to digital strategy, optimising budget allocation while balancing security, scalability, and innovation.
  • Ensure enterprise-wide cybersecurity resilience, working closely with external providers to implement proactive security measures.

Experience/Qualifications of a Director of Digital

  • Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
  • Prepared to complete any internally accredited training to support the effectiveness of the role.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing digital information systems, IT infrastructure, or enterprise systems in a corporate environment.
  • Experience in systems integration, process automation, and data analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of IT security practices, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven track record in IT project management, delivering solutions on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding.
