A large Charity organisation are looking to hire a Programme Manager on a 18 month Fixed Term Contract.

Job purpose:

To manage programmes from inception, taking responsibility for leading on the best practice design and delivery of programmes of work. Ensuring the delivery of stated outcomes and benefits, including capabilities. Leading on governance set-up, reporting, programme segmentation and benefits and outcomes profiles and tracking.The Programme Manager will be a key member of the PMO team and will contribute to developing a consistent and supportive approach to portfolio, programme, and project management across the organisation.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. Manage the end-to-end delivery of programmes and related projects as directed by the Programme Sponsors and Associate Head of PMO, ensuring alignment with the organisation Strategy, values and underlying delivery principles.
  2. Collaboratively develop the overall programme of work, segmenting this appropriately into plans, taking a benefits-led approach.
  3. Taking ownership for the completion and updating of key programme documentation, tools and resources, including plans, forecast vs. actual spend, benefits profiles, and RAID logs.
  4. Manage progress against planned activity, driving completion of tasks within stated and unknown constraints, assisting team members to highlight risks and issues and facilitate reporting on progress to programme boards and other key governance groups
  5. Identifying and implementing improvements to ensure the organisation can achieve the outcomes and benefits of the programme

Person specification:

  1. Evidence of successful management of multiple work-streamed programmes, including budgets, contracts, staff, planning, risk, stakeholder and benefits management to achieve stated outcomes.
  2. Experience of using benefits-led approaches to design and deliver programme of work.
  3. Experience of mapping dependencies, critical success factors and estimating resource requirements.
  4. Experience of producing concise, factual, and informative performance and outcomes reporting.
  5. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to engage and bring stakeholders with you.
  6. Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation and negotiation skills to seek buy-in, support and input into programmes from all levels of the organisation.
  7. MSP and or Prince2 certification or equivalent certification or experience
