Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading power company to recruit a Shift Team Leader for its site biomass power station in Ely.

The Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of £55,000 + benefits package including private medical insurance.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will:

Day-to-day leadership of the shift operations team who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
Managing the sites safety systems including the permit to work system and acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching, and carrying out isolations.
Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff engaged in work.
Providing effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties.
Providing effective administration and application of safe systems of work and Health and Safety policies

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Ideally have a NVQ level 3 or HNC minimum qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
At least 5 years working knowledge in the operations of a power station
Being HV Senior Authorised Person will be highly advantageous, a strong understanding of safety rules is essential
Ideally have a formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH

Ability to work a shift rota including days and nights
Ability to work well alone or within a team
Driven with the desire to achieve
