Our client is a leading UK specialist façade contractor, specialising in the design and installation of commercial glazing and cladding systems. Due to sustained company growth they have an immediate permanent requirement for a Design Manager.

The Role: To oversee and manage the Design of projects allocated, on time and budget to be compliant with current legislative and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

* You will be tasked with managing a diverse range of detailed design drawings for some of the most architecturally sophisticated buildings in the construction industry.

* Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, you will provide direction and support to the Design, Production and Project Management teams throughout the design, production and installation stages of each project.

* You will be responsible for the running of multiple projects as assigned by the senior management team.

* Due to the geographical nature of the business there will, from time to time, be a requirement to work away from your home.

* You will be required to represent the company in meetings with their clients and will at all times conduct yourself in a manner befitting your position whilst protecting the interests of the business.

Mange the design process, directing the design teams in the Indian office (Mumbai) to ensure program is adhered to and report to the senior management team when slippage occurs.

Liaise with Estimating Department to ensure drawings produced are compliant with the contractual obligations of project and tender.

* Develop a good rapport with Clients site management and installation teams.

* Generally, oversee and coordinate the collection of data and ensure that this information is incorporated into drawings, technical submittals and schematics.

* Consult with architects, engineers, surveyors and site teams.

Requirements:

* A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role working within the specialist glazing & façade industry

* Demonstrated experience on the successful delivery of Curtain Walling, Structural Glazing, Windows, Doors and rainscreen cladding systems.

* Broad technical knowledge of the overall construction process.

* A detailed understanding of knowledge of current construction techniques and awareness of the challenges and constraints of interrelated design disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical & electrical, fire and acoustics.

* Able to demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in producing 2D drawings using AutoCAD

* Have strong interpersonal skills to react well under pressure with the ability to apply technical and execution capabilities to resolve problems.
