Job title: Head of Planning

The Company:

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a Multidiscipline Planning and Environmental Consultancy who are looking for a Planning Director to join the team.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities:

Building the planning team and motivating, developing and managing their performance.
Building existing client relationships and generating new business.
Managing client expectations.
Project managing a mix of planning submissions and appeals.
Preparing tender responses.
Performing strategic planning research and policy development including assessments of development potential.
Making site inspections and assessing merits of proposals.
Giving guidance to engineers/architects on the production of drawings and supplemental planning information in relation to planning submissions.
Taking responsibility for the strategic management input of planning projects including financial management.
Expanding networks and creating relationships with key stakeholders including local authorities.
Mentoring team through RTPI development processes and procedures.
Managing, maintaining and growing fee pipeline.

Requirements:

Chartered membership of The Royal Town Planning Institute or The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
At least 7 years' proven planning experience of large, scale planning projects across a range of sectors within the private sector.
At least 5 years' experience of leading and growing a planning team within a planning consultancy environment.
A track record of sustainable business generation and client base growth.
Seasoned leader with management experience of directing and developing a team.
