My Client is recruiting for a Project Engineer in the Water Sector

Location - Midlands/Yorkshire/Northwest areas with Hybrid and site working

Working within a team to deliver projects through the design/build/commissioning phases, and assisting Project and Site Managers with programme and budget. A mixture of site, office and home working is required. Responsibly for the Health and Safety compliance of the project activities being undertaken on site during the project life cycle. Managing site M&E activities in line with the programme.
Delivery of MEICA projects within the Water Treatment Industry, primarily mechanical/hydraulic background with an awareness/understanding of electrical and ICA elements within the project.
Projects (internal inter business unit and external client) through the UK on major water utility companies. A split of both clean water and sewage treatment across both non-infra and interfacing with partnering infra projects.

Responsibilities to include:
To assist with the management of the engineering disciplines activities and advise the Project Manager on the progress against the project plan. Also provide engineering review of the method statements and risk assessments proposed for the work. Carry out and record briefings of technical updates to the Project team, including sub-contractors and SLPs. Promote best practice and pro-actively identify additional training and development requirements/opportunities to resource owners. Ensure that materials are specified correctly, orders are placed to meet the project programme and that an up-to-date material schedule is maintained for the project. Produce and implement an 'in process inspection and surveillance' regime consistent with company standards and project requirements.

Provide sufficient site support to the Project team (Project Manager, site supervisors, resource providers and sub-contractors) throughout the works to ensure that critical engineering decisions can be made in a timely manner and that issues arising can be dealt with to ensure compliance with a minimum of re-work (the role is will be split between office / site office environment, governed by project / business requirements). It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a regular basis. Assist with Site operational activities included but not limited to; procurement assistance, H&S documentation management & maintenance, M&E installation supervision and commissioning assistance.
Specific Safety Responsibilities:
HSQE project accountability for compliance with statutory legislation, Company Standards and company management systems, processes and procedures. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsible for ensuring that all planned Safety Inspections are completed in accordance with the approved programme and that identified actions are closed out in a timely manner as applicable.
Assist in the preparation of Safety, Quality, Environmental, Construction Phase Plans, work package plans and task briefs for allocated contracts as requested.
Participate in regular monthly safety meeting with Line Manager Ensure that we are compliant with mandated procedures and legislation.
Identify specific training needs for yourself so as to ensure competency for allocated tasks.
Production of all necessary project documentation including procurement scheduling, Valve/drive/instrumentation scheduling (based on design providing support), RAMS, SWP's with input into programmes and Forecasting. A basic understanding of the NEC regarding time and cost, EWNs and contractual awareness is required. Input into Quality planning and ITP's.
Co-ordinating with client and subcontractors regarding H&S inspections/audits surrounding project activities.
Coordinating the site activities to ensure programme is maintained whilst balancing the functions of operational sites.
Working with the Site/Commissioning/Project managers to ensure the related activities are being undertaken in line with the QA/ITP and maintaining programme.

Candidate Requirements:

Proven MEICA related project experience and knowledge on the following:

All roles will require familiarity of Control systems (PLC MCC etc) Valves both manual and actuated, instrumentation (pressure flow temp) and Quality instrumentation. Ancillary packages include screens/pump sets/ mixers/ dosing equipment/ storage tanks and vessels/ pressure filters/ surge systems etc all typically found on clean and dirty treatment sites throughout the UK, along with knowledge or DWI, WIMES and WRAS.

Process knowledge around treatment, water movement and chemical dosing will be required.

Hydraulic understanding of; water distribution, boosted systems and pumped dosing systems will be required.

MS Project, understanding and ability to create detailed programs based on works information and costing build ups.

Use of Microsoft packages is required, a more than basic level of Word, Excel and Project are required.

Role dependant, there will be the requirement to stay and work away.

EUSR - Water Hygiene
CSCS - Managers Card (Black/Silver or professional Qualification)
SMSTS - or recognised accepted equivalent (example: IOSH Managing safely)
