Are you an experienced and passionate childcare professional looking for your next leadership opportunity? Our client, an established and highly respected provider of residential childcare, is seeking a Deputy Manager for their brand new 6-bed home in Okehampton, specialising in Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This innovative service supports children stepping down from Tier 4 mental health settings and secure provisions, offering a pathway to stability and growth.

About the Role:

As the Deputy Manager, you'll work closely with the Registered Manager to establish and run a new home, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape a transformative service while supporting a vulnerable group of children with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Support the Registered Manager in recruiting, training, and supervising staff.

Act as a role model for the team, promoting best practices and a positive workplace culture.

Care Delivery:

Oversee the daily care and support for children, ensuring their safety, well-being, and progress.

Develop and implement tailored care plans, working collaboratively with children, families, and professionals.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

Assist in maintaining compliance with Ofsted and other regulatory requirements.

Contribute to regular audits and action plans for continuous improvement.

Operational Support:

Help manage staffing, rotas, and resources to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Step up to manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.

Safeguarding & Collaboration:

Prioritise safeguarding and promote the welfare of all children.

Build strong working relationships with external stakeholders, including local authorities and healthcare providers.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Support Worker in a residential childcare setting.

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent); Level 5 in Leadership and Management is desirable or willingness to work towards it.

Strong understanding of EBD, mental health, and complex care needs.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Passion for making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
