Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Retirement Communities Manager to join a well-established housing provider. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting older people and with experience in housing management. You will assist in the delivery of high-quality services to residents while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of effective housing management services, ensuring compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements, including management of buildings, grounds, amenities, contracts, and void processes.
- Assist in fostering positive relationships with residents, staff, volunteers, and the local community to improve outcomes and promote a strong sense of community.
- Promote and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, staying updated on changes in legislation and best practices, and liaising with external agencies when required.
- Support residents with tenancy matters, helping them understand their rights and responsibilities. Assist with rent and service charge payments, benefit claims, and debt repayment agreements.
- Manage low-level antisocial behaviour (ASB) cases, following prescribed policies to encourage community cohesion.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Identify service delivery shortfalls and support effective management of complaints, ensuring swift resolutions and learning opportunities.
- Coordinate social activities and promote the use of communal facilities, encouraging resident participation and engagement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring user-friendly databases and systems that provide timely and accessible information.
Skills and Experience
- A genuine passion for working with older people and providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work independently and show initiative.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to compile reports.
- Proven experience in managing staff and volunteers, with a focus on creating a positive experience for residents.
- Experience in housing management or a similar role, with a good understanding of tenancy agreements, rent payments, and benefit claims.
- Ability to handle complaints effectively and resolve issues at first contact.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of contractual compliance and ability to ensure adherence to service agreements.
- Experience in collecting and analysing customer feedback to drive service improvements.
- Previous experience working in a retirement village setting or with older residents is advantageous.
